What is the Vision and Mission of Brethren Christian High School ?

Vision : Brethren Christian Junior and Senior High School is a forward-thinking school dedicated to the testimony of Jesus Christ. The school recognizes and develops the talents and abilities of its students, preparing and encouraging them to think biblically, and to love and serve God and their neighbors in our global society.

Mission : Brethren Christian Junior and Senior High School exists to help Christian parents fulfill their God-given responsibility to diligently teach their children. The school also strives to implement Christ's command to make disciples. By philosophy, purpose and design, Brethren Christian is dedicated to providing a Christ-centered high quality education that is grounded upon biblical truth. The school ministers to the whole person, fostering individual growth and preparing students for responsible interaction in society.

 

What is the Mission of the Foundation?

The BCHS Foundation exists to provide financial and other strategic resources to perpetuate the mission of Brethren Christian Junior and Senior High School.

 

Why does the Foundation seek to recruit Trustees?

Trustees are the heart and soul of the foundation. Trustees strategically lend their endorsement, time, talent, treasure and guidance to the foundation. They are the extended family of BCHS sharing a desire to preserve, protect and perpetuate the legacy of the school. The foundation is attempting to identify and connect this extended family.

 

Who would want to be a trustee?

Individuals who believe in the mission of BCHS and would like to be involved strategically in that extended family and ministry would be motivated to become a trustee.

 

Who does the Foundation seek to recruit to be a trustee? (or "why me?)

The Foundation seeks to recruit individuals who support the mission of BCHS from our extended family. That is, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, retired staff, people in feeder elementary schools and churches etc. It is not primarily composed of individuals involved in the school on a day to day basis, such as staff and parents of current students, although some of them are involved.

 

What is required of a trustee?

A trustee is one who believes in the vision and mission of BCHS, desires to see that vision and mission perpetuated, is willing to be involved and contribute some measure of his or her skills, prayer, influence, treasure or other resources to help the Foundation fulfill its purpose. A trustee is a voting member of the foundation. There is an annual meeting in Spring. Occasionally there are other events to be involved in.

 

Is it just about money?

"...to provide financial and other strategic resources." The Foundation provides various avenues for substantial funds to be given to the school, but initial efforts also include building relationships with the schools extended family.

 

 How is the Foundation organized?

The Foundation is comprised of Trustees and a Board of Directors elected annually by the trustees. The Board meets regularly to conduct the business of the foundation.

 

What are the priorities of the Foundation?

The priorities of the Foundation are:

•  A Permanent School Site

•  Endowments, established to support and sustain on-going programs at the school

•  Projects that sponsor specific needs such as: The Arts, Athletics, and Communications Support
